Chicago Beyond x NBA Foundation

Produced, directed, scheduled, photographed, graphics designed, filmed and edited.

Co-led Chicago Beyond’s $1M collaboration with the NBA Foundation to support Black-led nonprofit organizations. The initiative marked the NBA Foundation’s first-ever collaborative grant, guided by Chicago Beyond’s local expertise & philanthropic model. Produced all social media assets for the marketing rollout, shot and edited the announcement video.

Kevin Kaarl Chicago Merch Pop Up

Kevin Kaarl centered his album rollout around his life before music stardom, which was the years he and his twin brother were mechanics. For his Chicago stop, where he had two sold-out shows at the Salt Shed, I was tasked with producing the look and feel of his one-day-only pop-up shop. We immersed fans in his world, using LED lighting to create a sunset effect for the three photo op moments. I ensured our team showed each fan the best angles for their photos.

I scouted the locations, sourced the exact white Jeep Cherokee that appears in his music video, printed and installed the vinyl decal, and oversaw hiring staff who would handle the door and flow of traffic.

 We saw over 300 fans come out, with a line forming one hour before the doors opened.

Chuwi performance in Chicago Humboldt Park

Chuwi is a band from Puerto Rico. The summer before they were featured on Bad Bunny's record-breaking album, "Debe Tirar Mas Fotos", they were invited to perform at Chicago's Millennium Park's 20th anniversary celebration. Being a fan of them and sensing there was magic to their music, I saw the opportunity to reach out to stars in the making, and invited them to perform for Classick Studios' 1Take series, officially sponsored by Shure. I saw the storyline opportunity, a bubbling band from Puerto Rico, their first time performing outside of the island, had to be in front of the largest Puerto Rican flag in the United States. We held from releasing the video until we created a batch of follow-up performances with other artists, it turned out to be a blessing because the next year they were featured on Bad Bunny's album, and the timing was perfect to publish the video to ride the newly created wave of attention. 

Chicago Beyond Fellowship For Black Maternal Health

Produced, directed, scheduled, photographed, and filmed across three states.

Tasked with filming these interviews across three states, I was a one-man band entrusted to capture the essence of each fellow. Chicago Beyond’s Fellowship for Black Maternal Health is a groundbreaking $2 million dollar initiative designed to accelerate the impact of leaders driving transformative change in maternal healthcare. The Fellowship provides unprecedented catalytic grants and support to a cohort of four distinctive maternal health leaders across the United States.

Quemando - Destiny Ron

Produced, directed, scheduled, filmed, and edited.

The inspiration behind my direction for Destiny Ron's music video was The Fast and the Furious - meets -The Warriors. I enjoy operating with the mantra, "How big can we go with our budget?" We filmed the entire music video in 9 hours, and it came out perfect. I love to create big ideas in Chicago that rival Hollywood budgets. Purposefully found race cars owned by women, I wanted to make sure Destiny's branding kept the community in mind. 

Quemando Music Video Release Party - Destiny Ron 

Sponsored by Bacardi and Patrón for a $500 open bar, and brought in over 160 attendees to Diego Bar in Chicago. I oversaw all the details from custom matchboxes to play into the song title "Quemando" (burning) to creating menus and a custom cake that when lit from on top revealed the cover art for Destiny's single.

Illinois State Representative Hoan Huynh of the 13th District

Produced, directed, scheduled, graphic designed, filmed, and edited.

Created the brand guidelines, logo, color palette, photography, and campaign video for Hoan Huynh, who went on to win in the 2022 election.

2024 Chicago Beyond National Justice Convening

Produced, directed, scheduled, filmed, and edited.

Tasked with hiring a freelance production company, I oversaw a team of two cinematographers and one photographer to provide coverage of Chicago Beyond's inaugural National Justice Convening.  I then edited the all of our footage to create our recap that stayed true to Chicago Beyond’s goals for their two day convening.

World Business Chicago

Produced, directed, scheduled, filmed, and edited.

In 2015, in collaboration with World Business Chicago, the 1000 Jobs for Chicagoland Manufacturing campaign committed to connecting 1,000 Chicagoans to open manufacturing careers, through direct placements or linking residents who need additional skills to training and apprenticeship programs. I was tasked with producing a quality video that told the story.

Chicago Beyond - Sr. Brand Innovation Manager - 2018/Present

  • Co-led Chicago Beyond’s $1M collaboration with the NBA Foundation to support Black-led nonprofit organizations. The initiative marked the NBA Foundation’s first-ever collaborative grant, guided by Chicago Beyond’s local expertise & philanthropic model. Produced all visual social media assets for the marketing rollout, shot and edited the announcement video.

  • Project managed all assets for their first digital guidebook, “Why Am I Always Being Researched.”

  • Produced Chicago Beyond’s multipart documentary coverage for their national $2M investment in birth workers, and oversaw filming in 5 states. I planned travel logistics, directed, and filmed the announcement video.

  • Led a collaborative project with visual artist Brandon Breaux for his 2019 ComplexCon installation “Newsstand: A Meditation on Time,” where Chicago Beyond became the bridge for Breaux to the mental wellness program of Cook County Jail.

  • Partnered with the team that oversaw feedback for the rebranding of Chicago Beyond from logo design to website structure.

  • Project managed taking all the photographs needed for the website buildout.

  • Oversaw the budgeting for hiring a video and photography vendor for their inaugural 2-day 2024 National Justice Convention. Oversaw the design of RSVP event page.

  • Created a monthly social media calendar, using monthly reports to pivot our content across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn.

  • Created Canva-based templates to ensure brand consistency.

AyKid Shots Productions - Freelance Producer Director  - 2010/Present

  • Produced a merch pop-up experience for Mexican recording artist Kevin Kaarl during his U.S. tour stop in Chicago. Over 300 fans attended, and over $12,000 in sales were made.

  • Created the entire branding for Illinois State Representative Hoan Huynh of the 13th District; logo, brand guidelines, color palette, campaign photos, and televised commercial.

  • Successfully pitched sponsorship opportunities for numerous experiential events I produced myself:

  • Destiny Ron music video premiere party sponsored by Bacardi and Patrón for a $500 open bar and brought in over 160 attendees to Diego Bar in Chicago.

  • Bacardi sponsored a game night I produced in collaboration with Latino-focused card game Tragos. Received $600 in experiential elements and complimentary drinks upon arrival for guests, had over 200 attendees.

  • Co-produced a three-stop experiential watch party for singer theMIND, where we took over three independent movie theaters in New York, Chicago, and LA, reimagining a release party for his third studio album.

  • Produced/directed/edited/lit multiple music videos for a variety of artists in Chicago.

  • Produced and directed brand campaigns for Chicago ad agency Elemento L2 for various projects: World Business Chicago. 

  • Produced, directed, filmed, and edited recap videos for on-site activations for brands such as Buchanan's, Hennessy, Astera Tequila, Bacardi, and Remezcla.

Chicago Tribune -  Multimedia Producer - 2015/2018

  • Executed all projects from conceptualizing to shooting to editing and distributing the final published piece. 

  • Revamped short series concepts within the Food & Dining vertical by introducing five original series that saw an increase in views across the vertical: Ugly Food Rescue, Chicago Arts React to Violence, Moments Before Curtain, Yums!, and  We Tried It.

  • Upgraded the Tribune’s video studio while staying under the approved budget of $10,000. Upgrades included 4K video production capabilities, camera stabilizers, multi-camera live streaming, and mobile interview lighting. 

  • Reported on our best-performing videos each week and used those insights to adjust our team's video strategy. 

Hoy Newspaper - Multimedia Producer - 2012/2015

  • Member of the founding team that successfully launched Hoy’s local televised nightly newscast “Hoy Noticias Mundo Fox”.

  • Produced Hoy’s first bi-weekly branded video series “Emprendedores de Hoy,” which was nominated in the 2014-2015 Chicago/Midwest Emmy Awards. 

  • Produced daily documentary-style videos around tight deadlines while directing on-camera reporters.
